Days 9:  After a long ride, WE'RE HOME!  Tomorrow's schedule-9 am worship, 10:30 am mission trip testimony and slide show, 4 pm set up for Stockholders' Banquet (please bring a dessert).

Days 5, 6, and beginning of Day 7:  Time flies when you're having fun...and working hard!  I'll have to update more details later, but PICTURES ARE UP NOW!!   And, we made the front page of the local paper today!!!  Check out the link at the top of this blog page!

Day 4, Monday, June 21:  First full work day...very hot...very busy...I'll fill in some more blanks later, but wanted to get this up as soon as possible today!

Day 3, Sunday, June 20:  After a fabulous breakfast at Porky's in China Grove, we attended worship at the  church Which was the co-sponsor for Group Workcamp in China Grove.  Our group was welcomed warmly.  This is one of the rare times that the co-sponsor of a workcamp is a church...and let me tell you...they are a very hospitable church!  They made up goody bags for ALL the campers...all 287 of them!!!!  They included homemade goodies, Cheerwine (a local soda that tastes alot like dr. pepper), and other cool items.  Registration went smoothly and we started camp officially!

Day 2, Saturday, June 19:  After breakfast, we loaded up the vans again.  This time, our destination was only 30 minutes away in Bryson City.  We arrived and were bused to the drop off point for our next adventure...White Water Rafting, on the Nantahela River.  The water was COLD!!!! (Around 45 degrees cold!).  It was a fun morning as we moved along the river.  Something I've not experienced on previous trips:  nature's air conditioning!   As we paddled down the river, we would hit patches of mist coming off the water.  These patches were noticeably cooler than the regular sunshiney air.  It was gorgeous.  Some rafts worked really well together as a team, and well, as you might expect...some did not. :)  But fun was had by all...even if they were wet! After rafting, we drove to nearby Dillsboro for a late lunch at Dillsboro Smokehouse.  It is a MUST visit place if you are ever in the area.  Following lunch, we loaded up the vans for the remaining 3 1/2 hour drive to our final destination:  China Grove.  Saturday night, we were hosted by South China Grove Baptist Church.

Day 1, Friday, June 18:  After packing up and saying goodbye, we hit the road with excitement...and LOTS of goodies!  Thanks to the ladies at church who sent us off with so many treats!  We travelled all day, through a little traffic and arrived at our destination in Sylva by around 7 pm.  First Presbyterian Church was our host and they were so hospitable!  We enjoyed a good night's rest...really!  We awoke the next morning and had a smorgasbord continental breakfast that they provided for us.

Sorry for the delay in posting this blog...I'm on the schedule as 2 people and today's my first full morning as Office Team Member.  I need to upload pics from other cameras, so as soon as I do that, I'll add them here.  -Christine
